Montse

This week Jo and I have been talking about having an exhibition/workshop together at Kettering University. At this point we have been brainstorming and we came up with the following topics to explore:
  • Integrated language: we are discussing common grounds between the types of activities, reflections, actions, etc. that we have in our own disciplines.  We are exploring how those ideas could translate into larger conversations (such as an exhibit).
  • We have been considering that this exhibition/workshop should be visual, but that it should also result in reflection for the participants.

Currently, we are thinking of using the following ideas to move forward:

  • Use of different magnifications. For example: using microscopes and computer modeling to visualize very small objects; on the other hand we could use very large objects and visualize them in a much smaller view.  To explore this area further I will be collecting different digital images that relate to my research. These images will include experiments, architectural images, instruments, data and others. Additionally, Jo has sent me some of her work and I will be collecting images of this work at different scales and will use it to do a couple of experiments.
  • Transposition and iteration. Jo was talking about this from the art point of view; I was reflecting about how much we use this in science.
  • Cyanotypes: they have been an important tool in both the scientific and art fields. Additionally, I can relate cyanotypes to my research.
  • Other items include digital decals, use of history objects, glass spheres, physical objects, and laboratory glassware.
