Introduction to Mark

Mark is an astrophysicist currently based at Durham University (United Kingdom), formerly at Johns Hopkins University, studying the "cosmic web" of galaxies and matter in the universe. Mark likes to think of galaxies as being arranged kind of like a bubbly foam - the matter is where the soap is, and inside the bubbles are largely evacuated regions called voids. The galaxies are at vertices where a few soap bubbles come together.

Mark has been interested in visualization and sonification for years, mostly looking at the beautiful structure the cosmic web forms. Most recently, he has been exploring a new way to represent the cosmic web that has some physics behind it: paper origami.
