ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
"Culture of Contamination" will be on view at the New York Hall of Science (NYSCI).
COVID-19 Disclaimer:
While we are not able to give exact exhibition dates due to uncertainty of when non-essential workers (such as gallery and museum staff) will be able to return to work as mandated by New York officials, the intended exhibition dates range from September 2020 through February 2021. If extreme social distancing guidelines are still in place, or the museum is unable to be open to the public when the exhibition is on view, we will host a tandem virtual exhibition and virtual event series based on the physical show. We will communicate frequently with accepted artists regarding these and other related scenarios as they evolve.
HOW TO APPLY
Medium: This exhibition will include two-dimensional "framed" works only. Framed works of any size may be submitted. Artists may submit unframed works at or under 18 inches by 24 inches, and the museum will provide frames. Art works in all "still 2D media" are eligible for consideration such as prints, photographs, drawings, flat mixed media, paintings, digital printed works, prints on aluminum, printed documentation photographs of sculptures/installations, etc.

A note for international applicants: Due to shipping cost and customs complications, international applicants must have their work printed via a U.S.-based print-on-demand company and shipped directly to the museum. We are happy to work with you to help you find a suitable printer.
Eligibility: Entrants must be of 18 years of age or older to apply. No geographical restrictions.
Number of entries: Maximum 5 entries (5 distinct works of art) per artist. If you are submitting a series, this counts as "one work of art." All images must be jpg. All images must be at least 72dpi, and at least 1,000 pixels in the smallest direction. Images must be labeled according to submission form instructions (see submission form link below).
Timeline requirement: Accepted works must be ready to arrive at the museum as early as August 20th. We will communicate with accepted artists to clarify the exhibition timeline in July.
Shipping: Artists are responsible for shipping their work to the museum. Artwork which is shipped must include a return shipping label. All art work must arrive ready to hang/install.
Deadline: All entries must be received by July 1st, 2020, 11:59pm EDT.
Submission Fee: Due to difficult economic circumstances internationally, we are waiving our standard $20 submission fee. To support this exhibition, you may make a donation at your own level upon submission. Donation status will not effect consideration of your work.
Notification: Artists will be notified of acceptance by July 16th. Notification will be made by email. If accepted, artists must reply with confirmation of show participation by July 20th.
